In 1989, Matthew Norris graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Geotechnical Civil Engineering. In 2000, Matthew Norris continued his education, receiving a Master of Engineering from the University of Maryland.
Matthew Norris was gaining experience in his industry well before he received his academic degrees. In 1978, Matthew Norris began working as a manager of the physical and chemical laboratories at Seaboard Industries, Inc. in Waldorf, Maryland. Later, he became a senior technician at Bob Taylor Engineering in Lexington Park. After that, Matthew Norris took a position as Assistant Branch Manager at Froehling & Robertson, Inc. in Baltimore. While earning his college degrees, Matthew Norris was the President and Project Engineer at Geotechnical Engineering Associates, Inc., the founder of Earth Laboratories, Inc. and Vice-President of Tech Earth & Environmental, Inc. in Maryland.
Currently, Matthew Norris stands as the President and Founder of Geotechnical Laboratories, Inc., also known as Geolab. His responsibilities include the oversight of all geotechnical, environmental and construction inspection projects. His specific engineering responsibilities involve reinforced slope and retaining wall design, foundation recommendations, field construction monitoring and recommendations, laboratory QA/QC, and preparation for all Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.
